Afterthoughts

It was a good day for a ride - a mix of sun & clouds. Not paying attention, I missed the first planned stop for card draws (Middleville Stewart's), and we ended up stopping at the Country Store in Salisbury instead. Our second stop - at the covered bridge in Salisbury Center went well. On our third stop (Burger King in Herkimer) we found the parking lot to have quite the slope, and decided to cross to the Fastrac which was more even. After the card draws we decided to take Route 5S instead of Route 5 because it would be quicker with less congestion. Sometime after 2pm nine of us - Don Ehre, Robin & Roger Potenski, Meg & Jim Melvin, Frank Wrisley, myself (Bob Falbo), and of course Sue & Bruce McMullen met at Sue & Bruce's house for the Erie Canal HOG® picnic.

On a side note - This is the first time we've been able to actually communicate from the Leader to someone in the back of the pack. Before we started, Gary Schraf and I setup our CB radios and tested communications. This setup proved it's worth a few times when traffic lights split our group and I able to take the appropriate action to pull the group back together. That's teamwork, and I was glad to have Gary covering my back!
