LADIES OF
HARLEY
Meeting
Minutes
September
26, 2006
Pat D. opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the first
“dinner” meeting held at Mario’s in Oriskany Falls, NY.
Members were advised to review the August Meeting Minutes on
line at the Erie Canal Web site.
OLD BUSINESS:
1). RAFFLE: Pat has completed the basket/bucket of items
for a motorcycle which include:
cleaning materials, micro fiber clothes, BOM, Harley cleaning supplies donated by Utica HD, 4 quarts of Ams
Oil, etc. Tickets will go on sale for
$1.00 per ticket at the next HOG meeting and at various events from now until
the Christmas party at which time the winning raffle ticket will be
pulled. Gift certificates from various
businesses will also be requested to be included in the basket.
2). Lesley discussed the
following events sponsored by the Erie Canal HOG:
A). Oct 9 - Delivery of the check for the Toy
Ride- all are welcome to come to the Neighborhood
Place and let the kids sit on their motorcycles.
B). Oct 22 - Pork Dinner - Donations of food
items and money are needed for the Pork
Dinner. Lesley will discuss exactly
what is needed at the next HOG meeting.
All proceeds will go to PBTF.
C). Oct 28 - The Halloween Party!!! Fun for all. Costumes please!! Bring a
dessert or appetizer to pass.
NEW BUSINESS:
1). Peggy suggested that
LOH chose a charity organization to raise funds for that is separate from the
Erie Canal HOG Group. This would help
differentiate LOH from the HOG group as well as support the concept of women
helping other women. LOH members were
asked to bring suggestions of charity organizations that might benefit from LOH
fund raising to the next meeting.
Charities that provide services to women were encouraged. Some suggestions from tonight’s meeting
included: The Burn Center, a Domestic
Violence or Rape crisis program, Animal organization such as the SPCA. A list will be compiled at next meeting and
a charity chosen.
2). Pat talked with Bill
Slater of Utica HD regarding a continuation of “Harley 101“. Many women have expressed an interest in
learning more about the mechanics of their motorcycle. Bill has agreed to a 2-day training
sponsored by Utica HD that would include:
how to do an oil change, issues with the clutch, what does that noise in
the engine mean, oil spots and what they indicate, etc. LOH members are asked to consider what other
mechanical information about their motorcycle they would want to know and contact
Pat so that it can be incorporated in the training. Hopefully, the 2-day program will be scheduled some time in
January.
Pat also talked with Bill about teaching a group of LOH members
how to manuever curves and turns on their motorcycle.
Everyone liked the dinner meeting concept. Male counterparts sat at another table and
had a good time of their own. The next
meeting is scheduled for October 24th at 6:30PM at Babe’s Restaurant
in Utica. (There is a coupon in the
Rome/Utica Dinner coupon book).
Meeting was adjourned.
